This Week's Speaker: Sally Mundell

Sally Mundell is an innovator, a creator, and an e-commerce and direct marketing strategist. She has over 17 years’ experience leading teams, driving strategy and building programs for companies such as Spanx, Home Depot, Delta, Georgia-Pacific and Coca-Cola. Sally spent almost 8 years at Spanx building their catalog, e-commerce and digital marketing businesses from the ground up, playing a key role in their dramatic growth. Sally’s awards and recognition include Top 40 Under 40 by Direct Marketing Association, Internal Spanx Awards, articles in AJC, AJT and coverage on 11Alive and Channel 2. Sally has also given back to the community through her innovative charitable concept The Packaged Good, a 501(c)3 non-profit that is the first ever storefront created to teach children the joy of giving. Sally is the Founder and President of the Board, and frequently packs care packages for her community with her two daughters Ruby (8yr) and Matilda (6yr).

Steve Franke Golf Benefit

The Rotary Club of Dunwoody Board of Directors recently voted to be a $1,000 sponsor of the Steve Franke Golf Benefit, which was held on November 7 at the Lanier Golf Club. Franke was injured in a freak accident at a family gathering at the beach in June and has been at the Shepherd Spinal Center since then. Just this week he was moved to his mother’s home in Dunwoody Club Forest because she has a ramp into the home. His Dunwoody home is currently being revamped for his wheel chair and other medical equipment. He spends all day at the Shepherd Center in rehab.

He was the general manager of the Ravinia Club until it closed and RCD had to find another meeting place. When the accident occurred, he was the general manager of Brookfield West Country Club.

Our club sponsored the event to honor the service rendered to our club by Steve Franke over many years. Club members Lang Wooddy, Tom Lashway, Doug Wright, and Rick Woods played in the tournament. No information on their ranking has emerged!

Trivia Challenge

RCD Trivia Question of the Week:

Since 1984, how many GRSP students has our club sponsored?

Email eleni.bafas@gmail.com with the correct answer! The FIRST to email me with the CORRECT answer will have the automatic opportunity to draw a card for a chance to win the Laws of Life drawing during this week's meeting!

The correct answer and trivia winner will be announced during the meeting. This new trivia challenge will continue each week, so be sure to keep checking the bulletin for the latest trivia question.

Thank you to everyone who made this trivia challenge possible, including Dottie Toney, Bill Mulkey and Tina Philpot, and for YOU for participating! We hope that you enjoy the challenge and learn more about Rotary and our Club in the process!

Congratulations to last week's winner: Cassandra Mills, who was the first to answer that our club became 100% Paul Harris Fellows in Rotary year 2015-2016.

Grant Applications: Dec. 1 Deadline

The Rotary Club of Dunwoody’s two main fundraisers, RunDunwoody and the Governor’s Ball provide funds to support our local and international charitable efforts. The selection criteria for grants include:

  • Build, expand, and leverage relationships with community partners aligning financial support with Rotarian volunteer support/opportunities where possible.
  • Extent to which project will have sustainable impact in the community served, locally or globally.

The grant application form can be found at https://dunwoodyrotary.org/resource/421. The application form must be fully completed and signed by a Rotarian and at least two board members. The next deadline for the applications is December 1, 2016.
