Governors Ball
Keep the Mardi Gras Spirit Going - March 28, 2020

Mardi Gras officially ended yesterday but we invite you to keep the spirit going all the way to our Governors Ball on March 28 at the Dunwoody Country Club. Keep the party spirit going with gifts, guests and raffle tickets … all the while supporting our good work in the community and around the world! We need your help in a variety of ways:

  1. Make donations to our silent or live auctions - vacation homes, wine, restaurant and merchant gift certificates, let your imagination be the guide! Check out what's been donated so far at rcdgovernorsball.com and share the information with your friends and guests!
  2. Plan to attend and bring your friends. This year's theme is Mardi Gras. We've hired a great band and plan to put on a night of fun activities! Add to the spirit with costumes as you wish. Check your email for the invitation and forward it on to your invited guests! You can register by clicking here.
  3. Promote our raffle - to your friends and families, and by asking your hairdresser, favorite restaurants and merchants to display a poster. Thanks to the generosity of Northside Hospital, we have a great opportunity to raise up to $12,500 through this year's Governor's Ball raffle. We are offering private box seats at State Farm Arena for the Harry Styles concert on July 29 - including food and parking passes. Harry Edward Styles is a 25-year old British singer, songwriter and actor with a net worth estimated at $85 million in 2018. His second album - Fine Line - released in 2019 broke record as the biggest sales debut from an English male artist in the US. We will only be selling 500 tickets - at $25/ticket - and participants will have a chance to win one of three prizes - the first two for four tickets each and the third for two tickets. It's easy to purchase tickets - anyone can go to dunwoodyrotary.org/lottery/3

Reporting a Successful Leap into Rotary

I am happy to report that last week's special Thirsty Thursday event was a great success! We had close to 40 people join us at Marlow's Tavern - Rotarians, partners and about 10 prospective members! Thanks to all of you who helped decorate and coordinate the evening's festivities. Our guests even included one of our Rotary Youth Exchange families - thanks Deb Cameron for extending that invitation!

Know someone who might be interested in a Leap Into Rotary who couldn't attend last Thursday? Bring them to a Friday Rotary meeting! There is so much good we can do in the community - the sky is the limit with more great people like you who want to make a difference in the world.

Service Opportunity
Bring Socks for the Homeless This Friday

We're teaming up with Ken Levy and his new e-Rotary Club to collect socks for the homeless in the metro Atlanta area. Thanks to everyone who already brought socks to one of our February meeting; there's still time left to contribute - this Friday!

Volunteer Opportunity
City of Dunwoody 2020 State of the City – Thursday, March 12

The 11th annual State of the City event will take place on Thursday, March 12, at 7:00pm, Dunwoody United Methodist Church, 1548 Mt. Vernon Road, Dunwoody, Exhibit Activities Building, Fellowship Hall, 2nd Floor.

During the event, newly elected Mayor Lynn Deutsch will address the city with a focus on accomplishments and a vision for the future of the Dunwoody community. In a changed format from past years, the public will be invited to this dessert reception and address by the mayor.

As in past years, Dunwoody Rotarians will partner with the City to help host the event, welcoming guests at during the arrival time. The Rotary Club of Dunwoody will be recognized in the program for its hosting role and will also have an exhibit table with signage as a place for telling the Rotary story to the public. This is an excellent opportunity to:

  • Get to know Dunwoody’s new mayor
  • Become informed about upcoming community developments
  • Meet and greet city leaders and the public
  • Increase Rotary awareness in our community.

Volunteer opportunities: Set-up and staff the Rotary exhibit table, meet and greet attendees upon arrival for the 7:00pm event. We need about 12 volunteers (approximately one-hour time commitment)

Date/Time: March 12, arrival at 6:00 pm

To Sign-Up: Contact Rotarian Sara Etelalahti at sara.etelalahti@aprio.com or 678-763-7621
