Urgent: Volunteers Needed for Monday at PMS
On Monday, January 23rd, Peachtree Middle School will be performing their play, "Unneccesary Monsters" at 9AM, 11AM, and 3PM. Our club is sponsoring this event in conjunction with the Dunwoody Women's Club. We need volunteers of at least 3 members to be present at each performance.
If you are a volunteer, you will go to the entrance and get registered, showing ID and tell them you are there for the Unnecessary Monsters play to be held in the gym and if necessary mention Principal Hepinstall (he will be expecting you).

PCMS Quizbowl Friday 1/20
PCMS Quizbowl teams wins...
A week ago the PCMS Quizbowl team came in second in the District tournment, advancing them to the regional tournament which was held this past weekend (01/14/17).At the Regional competition they were in second place after the initial rounds, but ended up beating Chamblee Middle in the finals to become the regional Champs. This means that they will advance to the State finals, which is a first for PCMS.
This Friday (01/20/17) they will warm up for their participation in the State tournament on Saturday 01/21/17 by taking on the Best and the Brightest from the Rotary Club of Dunwoody. This is a must see match, so be sure to attend our meeting this week (01/20/17). RCD will be represented by the following members:

Come cheer on the RCD as we give the PCMS Quizbowl team a run for the 2017 bragging rights to be the Best and the Brightest.

Four Dunwoody Rotarians recognized as a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow at the 33rd Annual Holiday Luncheon
WHAT IS A MULTIPLE PAUL HARRIS FELLOW?
You are recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow, when you give $1,000 or more to the Annual Fund, PolioPlus, or an approved Foundation grant. You are recognized as a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow with each additional gift of $1,000.
At the recent Annual Holiday Luncheon FOUR Dunwoody Rotarians were recognized and were presented with a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow Pin. Their combined contributions represented $15,000 + in contributions to the Rotary Foundation.

GSRP Weekend
GRSP Leadership Conference
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Dunwoody
In partnership with the Rotary clubs of Brookhaven, North Atlanta, Buckhead, and Atlanta
Thanks to the valiant efforts of Louise Barden and her legions of volunteers, we as a Club once again had a very successful gathering approximately fifty 2016-2017 GRSP students from 17 Countries came in from all across Georgia. A big thank you to the Rotary Clubs of Brookhaven, North Atlanta, Buckhead and Atlanta for their partnership and fellowship over the weekend. Also to the Rotaract Club of Atlanta for their contributions.
Beginning Friday the 13th the students toured the National Center for Civil & Human Rights. Chris McNaboe was the guest speaker from the Carter Center who works in the conflict resolution program. During the tour many students remarked that they hadn't realized the power of a peaceful protest.
On Saturday (01/14/17) the students were brought to the very charming and beautiful Oglethorpe University. Larry Hart taught them the art of having "Fierce Conversations". A fairly common remark from many students was that conversation is what makes the relationship.
The students worked in assembly line fashion and prepared 10,000+ meals for distribution by Stop Hunger Now. Many of the students liked having the opportunity to do a service project, and expressed amazement that with just an hour of work by the group, they could feed 10,000+ people.

A big thank you goes out to the Brumfield’s, Stout’s and the Stipick’s for the lovely dinner(s) for the students and host families on Saturday night.

On Sunday they participated in the "Shark Tank" event which was put on by the Atlanta Rotaract Club.

The GRSP students were divided into 5 teams that were each given a chance to plan a non profit, and compete for a mythical $10,000 seed grant. When the dust settled, first place honors went to the winning team that proposed knitting sweaters as a way to help raise money for refugees.
