In mid-July, the Rotary Club of Atlanta Metro and the Rotaract Club of Atlanta were excited to welcome DG Jim Squire and AG Gillian Leggett to their first joint meeting. The visit entailed ongoing conversations with members from both clubs, getting to know them, their aims and plans to elevate Rotary’s mission within the District 6900 and beyond.

DG Jim spoke about how he incorporated his life-experience as a franchisee expert into everything he did. He discussed the importance of attracting new members, but more crucially retaining membership and stressed RI President Mark Daniel Maloney’s hopes for connecting with the world for this year. He encouraged and saluted the Rotary Club of Atlanta Metro for being a first of its kind to have dual members from the Rotaract club of Atlanta.

Club President Warren Turner explained the club’s goals and aims for this year and how it plans to expand and attract perspective members through service and fun but more importantly, fellowship. Chris Smith, Vocation and Membership Director was unanimously voted in as president elect for the upcoming year 2020-2021.

Rotaract Club of Atlanta President Caroline Lazaro was happy to explain the excitement that her club members felt belonging to a new Rotary experience, and said that it has inspired them to achieve more on the service side and to establish more connections not only in the district but beyond that.

DG Jim Squire presented the Rotary Club's Immediate Past President, Secretary, and Advisor David Gordon with an achievement award for his ongoing dedication to “Service Above Self” in Rotary for over 33 years.

The night ended with a wonderful dinner where everyone enjoyed connecting on a more personal level. Fun and fellowship were lifted up to a higher level with many exciting things planned for the future.
