As most of us in District 6900 know, since starting End Human Trafficking Now in 2012, Roswell Rotarian Dave McCleary has visited Rotary Clubs, other organizations and businesses across the country andtraveled the world to bring awareness of human trafficking.In 2019, Dave became the Global Chairman of Rotarians Against Slavery and was invited to the White House Round Table on Human Trafficking with the expressed goal to engage the business and Civic Communities in this fight.

On January 14, 2020, President Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, visited Wellspring Living Women’s Academy as part of her focus to end human trafficking. Of course, along with Ivanka, US Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, and Governor & Marty Kemp, Dave McCleary, was part of this important day.The round table meeting included stories from three survivors. Dave commented, “It was so inspiring to hear where they are now and the impact Wellspring had on them. They are heroes! It was also great to hear about all of the Businesses participating in interning and hiring survivors.”

Wellspring is a non-profit organization in Atlanta that provides victims and those at risk with specialized recovery services.According to their website, the statistics are staggering… there are 100,000 children in the US sex industry and 300,000 children who are at risk. The average age of a girl first used in the sex trade is 14!This is a serious problem that is taking place in our own communities. Ivanka Trump made it clear that the White House is committed to ending this modern day slavery.
