As you may be aware, Rotary Districts and Clubs across North America have teamed-up with The Global Impact Group and Volunteer Surge to recruit and train Rotarians as volunteers to aid in serving those in our communities impacted by Covid-19. Two of our District 6900 Rotarians, Scott Doll and David Cochran, have been developing this effort.
I have just received the information, below, regarding one such opportunity right here in Atlanta. Built for Zero, a non-profit organization providing shelter and services to the homeless, has an urgent need for 40 volunteers.
Should you have any questions, please ask them to reach out to Scott Doll (b.scottd001@gmail.com) or David Cochran (dscochran1@gmail.com).
A message from John Dairyanani, CEO of Volunteer Surge:
Dear Atlanta Rotarians:
One month ago, we began developing a nationwide network to recruit, train and help deploy volunteers to address the needs of civil society during the COVID 19 epidemic. We are excited to be working with prominent partners like Rotary Districts and Clubs, ADP, Salesforce, Amazon, Linked-In and The Yale School of Public Health to develop a reserve corps of volunteers to serve in this crisis and in the future.
As a Rotarian you have access to three training courses which, depending on your qualifications and interests, will prepare you for a variety of in-person and TeleSupport volunteer opportunities. The best way to learn more about the program is to visit The Global Impact Group or Volunteer Surge for more information and enrollment. Beyond the opportunity to serve, you will find the course material to be a useful source of information on general health, aging, and caring for others.
Urgent - Atlanta Homeless Opportunity: Built for Zero
We have recently partnered with an organization called Built for Zero that supports homeless shelters in 81 communities around the country. Built for Zero will have opportunities for those who have taken the Volunteer Surge Community Health Workers course, and in the future, TeleSupport course trainees, throughout their national network. Immediately, however, they have a pressing need for volunteers in Atlanta, to work in person with their teams. The work place will provide Personal Protective Equipment and will not involve direct contact with homeless clients. CHW Volunteers will support the Built for Zero organization staff as they provide services. If you would like to volunteer in Atlanta, please click here to apply: https://partnersforhome.org/jobform/
