Join us this Friday at the AC Hotel to welcome Nehemiah H.
Lamb, Founder of Unique Individual Ranch, a 501c(3) nonprofit organization that
provides childcare focused on developing independence, cultivating positive
social interactions, and community inclusion among children with special needs
and disabilities,
Nehemiah was born and raised in Atlanta. Growing up, he had
his first experience working with children in church, where he had the
opportunity to become an assistant Sunday school teacher in a Pre-K class and
later became a game leader on Wednesday night for the youth.
While in high School and college, Nehemiah worked at the
YMCA as a lifeguard, swim instructor, summer camp counselor, after-school
counselor, assistant site director, and then site director, which increased his
passion for working with children. After graduating from high school, he
attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. While attending the
university, he was on the men’s basketball and tennis teams. Lamb graduated
with a B.S. in Industrial Technology with an emphasis in Construction
Management.
After graduating college, he returned to Atlanta and found
that the construction and engineering industry was collapsing during his search
for a full-time job. Nehemiah continued to work at the YMCA as a lifeguard and
after-school counselor. A full-time position became available at the YMCA and Nehemiah’s
mentor encouraged him to apply for it, which he did, and he interviewed and was
offered the position of Children's Services Director.
Lamb started with the YMCA in February 2010. In that role, he
was responsible for managing the summer camp which served 400 children daily,
and over 100 employees during the summer, and assisted in managing the
after-school program which served over 500 children daily. In the fall of 2014,
Mr. Lamb was promoted to Childcare Director, managing a $2.1 million dollar,
multi-department
budget. While serving at the YMCA in a Director position, Lamb saw there was a
great need in the community for children who had special needs and
disabilities. After working hard to incorporate inclusive programs for the
special needs children at the YMCA, he felt a calling from God to do more – to pursue
enriching the lives of children with special needs and disabilities by offering
quality and tailored programs and services.
Nehemia Lamb found the answer by creating a non-profit
organization that provides childcare that focuses on developing independence,
cultivating positive social interactions, and community inclusion. In the fall
of 2015, he resigned from the YMCA and founded Unique Individual, which is now
Unique Individual Ranch. His passion for the special needs community has grown.
His goal is to provide the best quality, unique, and tailored services that
will impact children with special needs and disabilities. He is working towards
having a facility for Unique Individual Ranch to call home and continue to
reach and impact unique children and their families.
