Business Person of the Year

Chip Reid

The Bremen Rotary Club honored Chip Reid, owner of Fortress Storage, as its 2015 Business Person of the Year. Mr. Reid was raised in Birmingham, Alabama and graduated from Auburn University in 1986 with a BS from the School of Architecture and Construction Management. In 1989, he married his Auburn sweetheart, Sonia, and they have two children together. Dylan attends Colorado State University and Samantha enjoys horses and track.

After college, Mr. Reid worked for large national home building companies until 1993 when he began developing and building residential communities in Paulding, Douglas, and Carroll Counties. In 1996, Mr. Reid began the first Fortress Storage in Douglasville, Georgia and later expanded to Lake Altoona in 1998, Villa Rica in 2001, and Bremen in 2005. Mr. Reid is also very thankful to his Fortress Storage team members that enable his flexibility. He believes that much of this award he is being given belongs to the people who make Bremen Fortress Storage what it is today. He paid special homage to Guy Ellis, who manages the Bremen storage facility.

Jane Wilson, City Council member, was asked to speak to Rotary on behalf of Bremen businesses. She congratulated Mr. Reid and Mr. Ellis on their facility and appreciated the fact that it was always in immaculate condition. Councilwoman Wilson said that Bremen was a good place to raise a family and have a business.
